Comets and asteroids added to favorites by manually entering their orbital elements
Not all hundreds of comets and thousands of asteroids are included in the current object lists. For example, the current asteroid list only contains the first 50,000 numbered asteroids.
COELIX APEX allows you to search for other comets and asteroids not in these lists. These might be newly discovered comets or asteroids that frequently pass close to Earth. You might also want to update the information for a comet or asteroid.
These objects are added to a second list in Coelix Apex: the list of favorite comets or asteroids.
To add comets or asteroids to your favorites, you must manually enter their orbital elements using the "Manually Add to Favorites" button in the window that displays the orbital element table for comets and asteroids.
If an object (a comet with the same name or an asteroid with the same number) appears in both the current objects list and the favorites list, the one in the favorites list takes precedence; that is, the one visible in the Coelix views and whose ephemeris data is displayed.

The orbital elements are available from the website http://www.aerith.net/comet/future-n.html
This site shows a list of comets visible in the coming weeks and months from your observation site.
You select the desired comet and obtain its orbital elements.
The elements used are highlighted in yellow.
Example of an asteroid added to favorites
Here is an example with asteroid 4 Vesta in 2025.
The orbital elements are available on the website https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/tools/sbdb_lookup.html#/
Simply go to this website and enter the IAU number or the name of the desired asteroid, then click on the magnifying glass.
You will then obtain the list of the asteroid's elements.
The elements used are highlighted in yellow.
Parameter H is the first of the two values ??(5.7).
Parameter G is the second value divided by 5 (17.0 / 5 = 3.4).
Removing a comet or an asteroid from the list of favorites
It may be necessary to remove a comet or asteroid from your favorites list, for example, if the same object appears in two locations or if its elements are too old and outdated.
To remove an asteroid from your favorites list, click on the row of the chosen asteroid, then in the pop-up menu that appears, select "Remove asteroid from this list of favorite asteroids."
To remove a comet from your favorites list, follow the same procedure.
Asteroids added to favorites from the JPL's list of 50,000 current asteroids
In Coelix, the list of current asteroids contains only the first 50,000 numbered asteroids, and only the first 2,000 are accessible for obtaining their ephemerides, finding them with the search engine, and viewing them in sky views, telescope views, sky charts, and certain graphs.
To make other asteroids accessible beyond these first 2,000, you must add them to a second list: the Favorites list. You can do this from the list of 50,000 current asteroids for each inaccessible asteroid whose number is between 2,001 and 50,000. To do this, click on the row of the chosen asteroid, then in the pop-up menu that appears, select "Add asteroid to Favorites list."
If the asteroid number is above 50,000, you must add it manually to the favorites list (next section).
