ASTRONOMY: seeing the INVISIBLE
by Jean Vallières

  IMAGE GALLERY
See the gallery of deep sky images that I obtained from my home near Montreal. It's surprising what can be obtained with a CCD camera. It is also here that the expression "Seeing the Invisible" takes on special meaning.
  DOUBLE, MULTIPLE AND SPECIAL STARS
In June 2012, I started the project to photograph many beautiful double, multiple and special stars, easily observed and photographed with a telescope of modest size, and even in a city sky.

The images are obtained with a small Celestron NexImage 5
color camera with my RCX400 250 mm telescope.
  MY URBAN OBSERVATORY
This section provides some pictures of the construction of the small sliding roof observatory installed in my backyard.

  MODIFICATION OF A RCX400 TELESCOPE
In 2009, I was able to get a RCX400 at very good price, but it was partially defective. Rather than pay hundreds of dollars to send the telescope to Meade for repair in California, I decided to invest this money to repair the telescope myself. The main change was the total replacement of the original electronic circuits for homemade ones. This section describes changes to the telescope with a lot of before-after pictures.

  ABOUT ME
This section partly describes my journey in the field of amateur astronomy since my beginnings.
